Hinge Interlock Switches
Hinge interlock switches are designed to mount on the hinge side of a machine access door or gate. By integrating the actuator into the switch body, hinge interlock switches achieve a higher degree of reliability than key actuated safety interlock switches. They have no slot where oil or dust can collect, they are more resilient to hinge misalignments and strain, and they are impervious to tampering with spare actuator keys.
We offer three types of hinge interlock switch, the award winning Safety Hinge Switch (SHS), the rotary hinge interlock switch Series I88, and the standardhinge safety interlock Series I88+CG.

Safety Hinge Switch SHS
The safety hinge switch SHS is the logical integration of a safety switch into an industrial grade hinge. The hinge operating angle is a full 180º, with a 3° switching point that may be selected between 0 and 180°.
In contrast to traditional safety switches with separate actuators integrated in the closing edge of the guard or frame, the safety hinge switch SHS monitors guard movement directly in the hinge. This feature significantly reduces safety system's exposure to mechanical collisions. The safety hinge switch SHS is easy to mount, maintenance-free and tamperproof, as the safety switch is difficult to localize.

The SHS is an industrial grade hinge that can bear an axial load up to 750 N and a radial load over 1000 N. The switch is protected according to IP67.
